Hawa Koomson seeks second term in Parliament

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson, Monday, picked and filed her nomination forms to signal her preparedness to seeking for re-election into Parliament.She was accompanied by some party stalwarts at the constituency amidst drumming and dancing.
The filing of her nominations forms brings to two candidates who have shown and demonstrated interest in competing for the mandate of the delegates at the party’s primary which is the stepping stone to that of the 2016 Parliamentary elections.
Addressing journalists after event, Hon. Hawa Koomson expressed the belief that her good work in the constituency over the past two years as their representative in Parliament will warrant her second term.
She said the delegates have always been supportive in whatever she does in the constituency, believing that their mandate will “definitely” be hers during the Parliamentary primary scheduled for May 2015.
She told the journalists that despite the limited resources at her disposal, she has been able to provide a power plant to the Awutu Prison Camp to help facilitate their operations when the power from the national grid goes off.
That notwithstanding, she has provided a public toilet facility to her constituents at Opeikuma, a CHPS Compound for the people of Ofankor, furnish the Awutu Senya Municipal Education Office, donated an ambulance to the Kasoa Community Hospital among many others.
Prior to picking and filing her nomination form, the legislator also donated another ambulance valued at GH₵35,000.00 to the Zongo community in her constituency to attend to emergency cases.The six classroom block lobbied by Hon Mavis Hawa Koomson and financed by GETFund
She also outdoored and handed over the keys of a six classroom block she lobbied for the people of Kasoa Iron City to the Municipal Director of Education after taking over the project from Anabella Company Limited and Amalgamated Design, the contractor and consultants of the project.
The Ewutu Senya East NPP Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Sadat, in receiving the nominations forms decried the use of dirty campaign among the candidates seeking the mandate of the delegates.
He also urged the law maker and the other candidate to use the opportunity to campaign vigorously for the flagbearer of the NPP during their tour in the constituency.
Alhaji Sadat, aka, Alan Parker, however called on the candidates to accept whatever verdict that may come their way. He cautioned that both the vanquished and victor should remain united and never depart each other to avoid ‘skirt and blouse’ vote in the constituency.
